Berneval [Dieppe Raid], Most Secret, August 1942
-
Although the base map information was compiled and published in June of 1942 by the GHQ Home Forces, the defence overprint information (in blue) is current as of August 1942 and was most likely prepared for No. 3 Commando unit for their attack on the "Goebbels" coastal battery as part of the Dieppe Raid (Operation Jubilee) on August 19, 1942. This map was originally held by the Department of Defence, and was acquired by the Laurier Military History Archive (LMH) from the Directorate of History and Heritage, Government of Canada, in the 1990s. Digitization and georeferencing of the map was performed at the University of Waterloo.
