Series Number Id: UNKNOWN. Sheet number: part of Sheet 28. A British lithographed reproduction of an early 19th century plan of Ypres, representing the town in the period before the railway reached it. The moat and ramparts are shown completely enclosing the town, and also the Inondation de Bailleul and Inondation de Messines and outlying forts, but there is no indication of date. The Menin, Lille, Dixmude, and Temple Gates are shown, and the Cloth Hall and Cathedral are clearly indicated. The detail is clearly taken from another plan (see PC0645, [Ypres town plan]) which bears a MS date 1837 and appears, from the internal evidence, to correspond to that date., Location: Research Collections; Fonds: WW1 Trench Maps: France; Box number: PC18; envelope_number: 552.
