Printed map. "Drawn & engraved by J. Bartholomew, Edinburgh." Two visual scales [47 mm=60 geographical miles] and [41 mm=60 British miles]. Includes inset, "Environs of Montreal." In lower margin, "Printed in colours by Schenck & McFarlane, Edinburgh." In lower right margin, "West sheet XLVI II". Described in Winearls, Mapping Upper Canada 1780-1867, entry 216, p. 72: "...also in Black's General Atlas of the World, new ed (Edinburgh 1859), plate XLVI...; twps shown to the base of the Bruce Peninsula and north to a line from Harvey to Palmerston; railways shown: Toronto-Guelph, Toronto-Barrie, Niagara Falls-Windsor, London-Pt Stanley, Woodstock-Pt Dover and connection to Niagara Falls, Brockville-Ottawa R, Prescott-Ottawa, Belleville-Peterborough-Beaverton; Buffalo-Paris...." Probably taken from same original source as McMaster map RMC_107370. Acquired as part of the Hodsoll Collection.
